Bike Share Trip

àVélo in Quebec City: will there be a bike when you arrive?

àVélo is Québec City’s electric bike-share network: a few hundred docks around Old Québec, Saint-Roch, Limoilou and along the river, running from spring to late autumn. Because it is electric and compact, most trips are short and the good stations fill up first — which is exactly why the forecast matters here.

How the forecast works

  1. Every station publishes its bike and dock counts every few seconds. We record every change, so we know how each station behaves across the day and through the seasons.
  2. We learn each station’s rhythm by hour, weekday and weather: a rainy Tuesday in November is not a sunny Saturday in July.
  3. Enter your position and travel speed and the map shows what a station will look like when you actually get there — not what it looks like right now.

Frequently asked questions

Is the forecast a guarantee?
No. It is a probability estimate built from that station’s own history, the last 30 minutes of activity and the weather. It tells you how likely a station is to have a bike when you arrive, which is the decision you actually need to make.

Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no password and no tracking. Your position is only used to compute travel times and is never stored on a server.

Where does the data come from?
Directly from the operator’s public GBFS feed — the same open standard every bike-share system publishes. This project is independent and not affiliated with the operator.
